FOAF Manager

The Internet is full of websites and social networks that require users to have identity profiles. You generally need a separate profile for each website. The idea behind the FOAF Manager prototype is to centralize the different profiles in one place using the FOAF specification as the identity ontology.

The FOAF Manager prototype demonstrates that, using the Semantic Web standards proposed by W3C, it is possible to integrate the different profiles the user has for different social applications. Thanks to the ontology put forward by the Friend-of-a-Friend project, the most relevant identity concepts can be expressed using a common vocabulary.

FOAFManager

The FOAF Manager prototype features these functions:

  • Editing, managing and publishing of FOAF instances expressed in RDF/XML.
  • Importing personal information from three source types:
    • Social networks.
    • FOAF instances stored in the FOAF Manager's repository.
    • FOAF instances published on the Internet.
  • Automatic merging of different identities in a single FOAF profile.
  • Digital signing of FOAF instances.
